The Basque forestry and timber sector pays tribute to Carlos Uriagereka on his retirement

The latest meeting of the Basque Country Forestry Advisory Group, held in Zamudio and attended by Leire Salaberria and Edurne Lacalle, Managing Director and International Forest Policy Advisor of USSE, addressed current sector challenges and also paid tribute to Carlos Uriagereka, Director of Forestry of the Provincial Council of Bizkaia for the past 20 years.

Carlos Uriagereka has been a key figure in the Basque forestry sector, both for his approachable nature and for his strong commitment and dedication over these two decades. His career has left a deep mark on those of us who have worked alongside him in support of the Basque forestry sector.

During the meeting, the transition in the forestry department of the provincial authority was also highlighted, with Aitor Omar set to take over—a respected professional with strong sector knowledge who will have USSE’s full support in this new stage.

USSE expresses its gratitude to Carlos Uriagereka for his work and dedication over all these years, and extends its best wishes for this new personal chapter.
