The "Baños de Bosque en Busturialdea" project concludes its first phase after 36 sessions

30 / 11 / 2018

The forest bathing project in Busturialdea has achieved the first of its objectives. To ensure that people affected by mental illness who use AVIFES can experience an improvement in their condition thanks to contact with nature. After 36 sessions in the forests of the Urdaibai region, it has been possible to see how the participants in the walks have improved in their dealings with the group, with the guides and have become familiar with the environment. Now begins the second phase of the project in which the data obtained must be analyzed in order to measure the therapeutic effect that the experience may have had on users and publish the conclusions.

The expert in the technique of forest baths - known as Shinrin-yoku - Alex Gesse has taken part as an advisor in the project, also taking charge of the training of the guide who has accompanied the users during the tours.

USSE has AVIFES, the Association of Foresters of Bizkaia and Urremendi as partners in the project, financed thanks to the contributions of the Department of Economic Development and Infrastructures of the Basque Government and the European Funds.

With projects such as the "Baths of Forest in Bustirualdea" USSE (Union of Selvicultores del Sur de Europa) wants to enhance the value of forests in the care and maintenance of our natural ecosystem and work on the effects that natural spaces have on people's health.
